- GENERAL INFO: The Hi-Torque Denso starters are not a permanent magnet gear reduction unit
wherein the inner gear is often made of some form of plastic. Real copper field windings are used, as opposed to magnets that are subject to being easily displaced the first time an operator or mechanic gives the starter a sharp blow with a hammer.
- ADVANCED GEAR REDUCTION DESIGN: The 4.44 to one gear ratio enables the engine to get
through the compression stroke evenly and without hesitation.
- FIVE (5) FULL ROLLER BEARING CONSTRUCTION: Almost all OEM starters implement a bushing
on each end of the armature. These Denso units incorporate a bearing on each end of the armature, a roller bearing on the intermediate gear and a bearing on each end of the drive assembly.
- HEAT RESISTANT SOLENOID DESIGN: OEM solenoid is most often tightly encapsulated in steel.
This steel construction minimizes its ability to dissipate heat. The Denso solenoid is constructed of Aluminum, which dissipates heat much more rapidly than steel. Further it is equipped with a very small vent hole. Thirdly and equally important, there is equivalent to a half-cup volume of air inside the solenoid housing, so essentially the solenoid breathes.
- SOFT ENTRY: The design of the solenoid and drive assembly is unique within the industry.
The cam of the drive assembly, which the pinion is coupled is equipped with a helix spline. The shaft passing through this cam will twist ever so slightly thus preventing the teeth of the pinion to strike the teeth of the flywheel directly. The pinion will begin to turn after the solenoid has been excited and fully extended into the flywheel.
